As part of a smart technology installation for the whole house, Cyberhomes created a dedicated, vintage-style cinema room at a luxury London home.
The requirements for this home cinema were exacting. The homeowner wanted the room to recall the vintage cinemas he’d visited as a child, while benefiting from the latest AV technology—and the largest screen possible. Cyberhomes worked closely with the homeowner to achieve the ideal interior design before beginning construction. We produced mood boards and concept visuals to establish the overall look and feel of the room, and 3D animations to allow the client to visualise how it would look and feel (see YouTube: https://youtu.be/pJ_hFzgUfYI).
To create the atmosphere of an old-fashioned playhouse, the final design featured luxurious red velvet seating and carpets; a gold ceiling inlay; an authentic-looking, red stage curtain; and a stage area in front of the screen, complete with artificial limelights.
The cinema room has the very latest in terms of home cinema technology. The projector supports 4K Ultra HD resolution and there are number of media sources that allow streaming of 4K content from the likes of Netflix and Amazon Video; as well as Kaleidescape Strato 4K media server. Sound too is cutting edge, with a Dolby Atmos 7.2.4 immersive surround sound system. The use of acoustically transparent screen and fabrics ensures none of the 13 speakers in the room are visible and the interior design of the cinema room has the wow factor—and that’s before you even turn it on.
The Savant control system allows automation, so simply pressing play will dim the lights, open the curtains in from of the screen, close the curtains in front of the bar, turn on the projector, select the right audio and video sources and start the movie! Need a drink, simply press pause, the movie stops, the lights fade up and the bar curtains automatically open.
“Cyberhomes built our home cinema to the most advanced possible spec. The 4K ultra HD (UHD) picture and 3D sound combination is truly spectacular—better than the real cinema experience.
